Greetings Pastor and Christian Leader,
Today, October 1, is the 50th anniversary of the “Free Speech Movement,” which began on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley, on this date in 1964. To learn more about it, watch this a brief overview of what happened that day.
Tragically, and as you heard in the video, ten years prior to that, on July 2, 1954, pastors had lost their freedom of speech, and the nation has paid a price ever since for the dearth of biblical preaching on so-called “political” and social issues, and for the lack of application of scriptural truth to national life.
But you can change that. I encourage you to follow the practices of pastors during America’s formative years and do what was done for the first 160 years of the Republic when there was no governmental intrusion into the pulpit.
I ask you to preach a BIBLICAL ELECTION SERMON – to help your congregants think and vote “Christianly” this election – preaching in solidarity with thousands of other pastors – on this coming Sunday, October 5, 2014 (or any other Sunday between now and the election) – by signing up now at PulpitFreedom.org
If you are not a pastor, but you are a Christian leader of a ministry, please go to PulpitFreedom.org and sign on, indicating your agreement that the anti-Constitutional, anti-First Amendment Johnson Amendment, muzzling and intimidating pastors since July of 1954, needs to be repealed.
And if you are a pastor, I ask for one more favor. May I ask you to participate in PROJECT 75, which is an attempt to get 75% of your congregants registered and voting by your strong encouragement from the pulpit? If you will be willing to try to see that happen, please join with other pastors by signing up for PROJECT 75 at Project75.org.
Blessings on you this day,
San Diego, CA
